When Eden becomes full again, the garbage collector copies live objects from both Eden and the first survivor space to the second survivor space until it is full. Remaining live objects are moved to the tenured space. The order of processing is important: the garbage collector first traverses Eden and then the survivor space; this ensures that objects are given ample opportunity to die before being tenured.
